    Meeting in person5 min read

    Your first-date safety plan

Simple steps before, during, and after meeting someone new.

    Before you go

Choose a public place you know, arrange your own transportation, and tell someone you trust where you are going. Keep the first meeting short enough that leaving feels easy.

    • Keep your home and workplace private.
    • Share the profile and meeting details with a trusted person.
    • Charge your phone and keep emergency contacts accessible.

    During the date

Stay aware of your surroundings and keep control of your food, drinks, phone, and transportation. You do not owe anyone more time, physical contact, or an explanation for leaving.

    • Meet in a staffed public place.
    • Limit alcohol or anything that affects judgment.
    • Leave immediately if something feels wrong.

    Trust the uncomfortable feeling

Safety does not require proof. If a story changes, boundaries are ignored, or you feel pressured, end the meeting. Block and report the profile when appropriate.
